Outgrowing our Norwood facility in 1998, Paul and Dave Kitzmiller realized the need to expand the office space to accommodate CORE’s growing business and staff. We managed our own facility expansion the same way we’d handle that of one of our valuable clients.
A site was located in Anderson Township near the Beechmont Mall and the now redeveloped Anderson Towne Centre on Five Mile Road. The plan was to build new offices for CORE Resources with additional space for other tenants. One tenant was found and an office condominium was planned for a third occupant who wanted to own their office space.
The site proved to be a challenge and created opportunities for the partners. A large retaining wall was built along Five Mile Road to in essence create space sufficient for both the new building and the required parking. This allowed an expansion in the building’s program providing an opportunity for the partners to build a lower level walk out for storage space and future office expansion while using the building’s foundations as part of the earth retaining system to accommodate the site work.
Paul worked with interior design Meg Keim for the planning and design of the interior office space. Quality of design was key, but more importantly, we wanted the ability to use the space as a show room for clients to see aspects of design, materials and techniques that were being discussed for their own projects. By creating different spaces within the office, a client could see different design elements such as open office areas, acoustical ceiling clouds, lighting effects, and textural differences.
7795 Five Mile Road has been CORE Resources’ home for over ten years and we look forward to many more years here.
